Occasionally, I discover a restaurant I really like. More often, I am shown a restaurant that somebody really likes, and then, I find out that I agree. In which case I usually pick up one of those restaurant business cards at the exit, in anticipation of the next time I’m in that place and would like to have some good food. And then, I either lose the card immediately, or I throw it in a box where I’ll never find it again. Therefore, I’ll try something I’ve been meaning to do for a while: I put all cards up here!

L’osteria del treno was where our scrum course had its “formal” dinner. This place specializes in regional foods and good bought from small agricultural producers. I had some really great warm goat cheese with honey and pears.

On the first day in Milan, I met the others from the course in this place, l’Ucellina, and we had some tagliata (beef roast, which then is served in fine slices. Mine was garnished with aceto balsamico and roasted pine nuts. While the food was good, what was really outstanding was the place’s grappa collection. We had a little ad-hoc tasting round, and all (nearly all — grappa turned out not to be too appropriate for the Danish palate) agreed on the outstanding qualities of the Grappa di Sassicaia.

Last, this restaurant comes from an earlier stay in Milan, where some friends showed us around. This place is a very homey, southern-italy, restaurant with pizza, mozzarella di buffala, and lots of ripe tomatoes.
