Yet another culinary treat! This recipe is very easy, but takes a little time to prepare. Enjoy with moderation!

Quantities are for approx. 50 pieces.

Ingredients
300g sifted flour
1 pinch of salt
1 spoon of baking powder
250g white chocolate (I use Galak by Nestlé)
1 egg
275 soft butter
3 vanilla pods
175g cane sugar
300g macadamia nuts (roasted and salted)
50g chocolate drops (bought premade)

Preparation
Sift the flour, baking powder and a pinch of salt into a bowl. Chop white chocolate into pieces of about 1/2cm. Scramble the egg. Chop the macadamia nuts very coarsly (chop them approximately in halves). Set 50g of the macadamia nuts aside, and chop them into 1/2cm pieces, which will be used for decoration.

Mix butter and the contents of the vanilla pods 5-8 minutes until soft and foamy. Add the sugar and mix for 4 additional minutes. Finally, add the scrambled egg bit by bit. Add the flour mix, and finally, distribute the white chocolate pieces and the coarsely chopped nuts in the dough using a wooden spoon.

Pre-head the oven to 170°C. Prepare a baking tray with baking paper. Now, using a wet tea spoon, put small heaps of dough onto the tray, and press then flat with the back of the spoon. Keep 5cm distance, the cookies will grow. Decorate the cookies with the set aside pieces of nuts and the chocolate drops.

Bake the cookies on the second position from the bottom for somewhere between 12 to 17 minutes, until they are nicely brown. Directly after baking, the cookies need to rest a moment on the tray, as they are very brittle. After a few minutes, remove and let completely cool before enjoying.

Note
It can be tricky to find the original cookie-like chocolate drops. The ones I am using can’t be purchased in Basel anymore, and I am looking hard for a new source. As soon as I have one, I will post it here. Maybe, however, I should look into chopping up chocolate, though?

Post-scriptum
I found a new source for the chocolate chips needed for this recipe. They are made by Schwartau, a german company, and are available in german groceries and supermarkets. Good for me, since going to Germany from where I am at is a matter of 15 minutes …
