This is not actually a blog. It is rather some sort of collection of random thoughts, pictures, notes to myself, recipes for food I tried and liked, and other random bits and bytes scraped up from this or that webpage. Essentially the same kind of things I might tell you over a good cup of espresso. Most of the stuff in here is in English, the language I use most at work, but expect to see some german articles popping up. After all, I am from (and in) Switzerland, and sometimes, I can say things more clearly in German.
There are a few other static pages here where you can find out more about my professional interests, my curriculum vitae and my publications, if so inclined.
What this certainly is not: yet another attempt at grassroots journalism, à la mode de la blogosphère, sur son nid de web 2.0. A lot of people seem to be doing that already, and I don’t feel the need to add one more to the flock. Even “20 Minuten” and “Blick am Abend”, the two free commuter tabloids around here now have a regular “in the blogs” column now, which, coming to think of it, is oddly reverse.
Right now, blogging software just feels like a convenient way of keeping a personal home page somewhat up-to-date, without the hassle of writing HTML. I have done that a lot, starting way back in 1995, but frankly, for this project, WordPress is more than enough. Still, I have played around a bit with the layout of the site, and if you want to grab the template and scripts that go with it, please drop me a line. Of course, if you want to get into contact with me for anything else (except for sending me spam!), feel free, as well.
